How to Create and Animate a 3D Book with Realbook 3 for Cinema 4D
If you want to create a realistic and customizable 3D book in Cinema 4D, you might want to check out Realbook 3, a preset that allows you to do just that. Realbook 3 is a plugin that requires Mograph and lets you adjust the size, the animation, the hardcover, the pages and much more of your 3D book.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to use Realbook 3 for Cinema 4D to create and animate a 3D book with your own content. We will cover the following steps:
Setting up the Realbook 3 preset
Customizing the book parameters
Adding your own cover and pages textures
Animating the book with keyframes and expressions
Rendering and exporting your final result
Let's get started!
Step 1: Setting up the Realbook 3 preset
To use Realbook 3 for Cinema 4D, you need to have Mograph installed and activated in your Cinema 4D application. You also need to download and install the Realbook 3 plugin from aescripts.com. Once you have done that, you can find the Realbook 3 preset in the Content Browser under Presets > Realbook.
To create a new book, simply drag and drop the Realbook 3 preset into your scene. You will see a default book with a blue cover and white pages. You can move, rotate and scale the book as you wish using the Move, Rotate and Scale tools.
The Realbook 3 preset consists of several objects: a Null object that contains all the book components, a Cloner object that generates the pages, a Plane object that represents the cover, a Spline object that defines the spine curve, and two Effectors that control the page animation and deformation. You can access and modify all these objects in the Object Manager.
Step 2: Customizing the book parameters
To customize the book parameters, you need to select the Null object in the Object Manager and go to the Attributes Manager. Here you will find several tabs with different options for your book.
The first tab is called \"Book\" and it allows you to change the size of your book, including the width, height, depth and page thickness. You can also choose how many pages you want your book to have by changing the \"Count\" parameter under \"Pages\". You can also enable or disable the hardcover by checking or unchecking the \"Hardcover\" box. If you enable it, you can also adjust its thickness and offset.
The second tab is called \"Animation\" and it allows you to animate your book by changing the \"Page\" parameter. This parameter controls which page is currently open in your book. You can animate this parameter by setting keyframes or using expressions. You can also change the speed and ease of the page animation by adjusting the \"Speed\" and \"Ease\" parameters. You can also enable or disable the page curl effect by checking or unchecking the \"Curl\" box. If you enable it, you can also adjust its strength and direction.
The third tab is called \"Deformation\" and it allows you to deform your book by changing the \"Bend\" parameter. This parameter controls how much your book is bent along its spine curve. You can animate this parameter by setting keyframes or using expressions. You can also change the shape of the spine curve by adjusting its points in the Spline object.
Step 3: Adding your own cover and pages textures
To add your own cover and pages textures, you need to create new materials in Cinema 4D and apply them to your book objects. You can create new materials by clicking on the Create > New Material button in the Material Manager. You can then edit your materials by double-clicking on them in the Material Manager and going to the Material Editor.
To apply a material to your cover object, simply drag and drop ec8f644aee
